What Google Never Told you About Making Money With Adsense
From what I have read, there is an ebook available titled “What Google Never Told You About Making Money with Adsense” but that is not the topic of this particular post. Bieng someone that has used adsense in the past and with brief success I wanted to sort of shed light on some of the issues that may arise if you decide to monetize your blog with hopes of making money online, or other web property with Google Adsense.
First and foremost we must face the facts, and that the main fact that people fail to most often recongize is the fact that Google has a monoply on the PPC advertising market. Sure there are other PPC engines, that bloggers and other website owners can use to make money with such as Adbrite, Adtoll, and what I use, Microsoft Pub Center. There are others that I did not mention, but the fact is that most of these programs either pay you next to nothing such is the case with adbrite and adtoll, or they are still in beta and have been/will be for some time now which is the case with pub center and the yahoo publisher network. With that in mind, the end all be all option is adsense.
Signing up for adsense is simple, and if you have at least a blogspot blog you will get approved. The problem however lies in the fact that Google answers to no one. Their TOS states that you must not put ads on certain sites, such as those which contain hate related material etc. as well as the fact that clicking on your own ads will get you the ban hammer. That sounds fair enough, if I were an advertiser I would not want my ads on a website with vulgarity and other less favorable content, and I would also not want people costing me money with false clicks. However the next part is the part that makes adsense (in my opinion suck).
Google states in their TOS that they can ban you with no reason at any point in time. Go ahead an re-read that to make sure that it registers in your head. You can be making $1,000 per day and get the ban hammer literally out of no where, and its not me getting nervous over nothing, it happens every day. When it happens the newbies usually post on forums saying they did nothing wrong and were banned with no reason out of the blue. Most of the time they clicked their own ads at one point or another, but what about the people who were literally banned for no reason, and had done nothing wrong? This is what google never told you about making money with adsense. They will ban you, keep your unpaid revenues, and move on to the next one. They will claim in your ban letter that you pose a significant risk to advertisers, and tell you nothing more. Where is the closure in this? Would it be so hard to disable ads on someones website that is breaking the rules, allow them to change it, and reinstate them? Luckily this is exactly what Micorosft Pub Center does, and is the reason why I will use them forever. They will not simply ban you out of the blue, they will disable the website which has offended their TOS, and tell you to fix it before they will serve ads again. They also screen every site before going into the system, so there is never that question of whether or not you site fits them up front.
This was a bit of a rant, but I cant stand how Google does this to thousands of publishers each and every year and offers no closure on why it happened. Around a year ago a man had this happened and sued Google in small claims court. He did not get his account re-instated, but he did get his $600 which he was owed at the end of that particular billing cycle. I guess thats why they call it big G, but it certainly does not seem fair to me. This process will continue until other ad companies come out of beta, or the lesser companies start to offer PPC rates comparable with adsense.

I agree with your thought. The behaviuor of Google can hardly be considered as correct. Still there is not enough cririque of it. That’s what allows Google persist upon actions that otherwise could be defines as steal.

Ya Dmytro, their behavior is suspect at best. Their desire for growth at all costs throws a lot of people under the bus. I hope Microsoft can ramp up their game and become a bigger player in the PPC and search markets.
