The Power Of Entrecard
I would venture to guess that by now it is no secret, Entrecard is a great tool to help bloggers build up their brand in a shorter amount of time than previously required. For those of you that may be unaware, Entrecard is a little widget system that acts as a virtual business card, on which you may “drop” yours on others, receive dropped cards, and even advertise on other widgets across the net. You will notice my entre card widget on the right sidebar in a very prominent position.
As some of you may know, PeterFoti.com was, at one time a successful blog and it was not until I came to college and let it fall off that I stopped blogging. However the great thing about the internet, and most specifically Entrecard, is the fact that you can come back and become as successful as you one were in a short amount of time, if you use entrecard effectively.
How to use entrecard effectively
Dropping
To use Entrecard effectively we have to look at how you can get yourself noticed by other bloggers within entrecard, and that is through Drops. Everytime you drop a card onto someones website your entrecard goes to the top of that persons drop box and is also placed in the banner of dropped cards on the top of their dashboard. Most bloggers (myself included) are a fan of “U Drop I Follow” meaning that, if you drop a card on me, I am going to return the favor and drop back onto you. It is now easier than ever to make drops with the new toolbar that has the ability to open 10 entrecard sites at once within your browser.
So imagine you have the capability of having up to 300 people day (max number of drops) see your website in their drop inbox and then have the option to come back and follow you.
Advertising
Another strong way that one may use entrecard is through advertising. When you drop only the person running the blog will see your card, however when you advertise on someones widget everyone who visits that page for a 24 hour period will see your advert showing in the widget. Advertising through entrecard is not paid in cash, but rather with credits, the same credits that you earn once every time you drop a card. I believe that the cheapest price to advertise is 2ec however it may be 4ec, but for the sake of discussion lets assume that it is in fact two. If you manage to drop 300 cards and then take those 300 credits to 150 other websites how many people are you reaching on the first tier? 450! Not to mention all of the people that you will gain from the second tier off people clicking on entrecard adverts that you have placed. Some people however would prefer to take those 300 credits and spend it all in one fell swoop on a bigger blog, and while that is fine, I like my way of advertising on a wide variety of blogs for the same price.
In all, to be successful with Entrecard you must:
- Be commited to dropping, this doesent necessarily mean 300 cards a day, but you want to have your card seen in as many drop inboxs’ as possible on a daily basis.
- Take the credis that you earn from dropping and spread them around to other sites for advertising
- Stay focused, dont faze out after a week or two this is something that you must stick with for the long term in order to be effective.
- Bonus-It is also helpful if you comment on others blogs when you are dropping, this goes to show that you are not simply there to waste a view on a drop that takes only a second. Show the author your interested and leave them a comment or two.
In all putting these factors into play for you with entrecard, will help your blog to become more successful than it ever was before.

Hi,
I’ve never really understood what those credits were for so they’ve just been sitting there. Thanks for the explanation.
I have about 800 creds or so. Time to put them to good use, methinks!
take care…
