Starting an Internet Business

One thing that I realized I have never posted about on PeterFoti.com is how to start an internet business, or at least how I started mine a while ago, so here it is. I started my first company at the age of 14 which you can read about Here with a better picture of me in those days Here. It was a ton of fun for me to be able to be driven by my parents to peoples houses and fix their computers for fifty bucks a pop. I thought I was on top of the world at that point, but as I got older and learned more and more about the internet I knew I wanted to start an internet business.

I originally toyed around with a bunch of ideas and even launched a few of them. Pretty basic stuff such as web design, web hosting, etc. The sad truth was that I was a horrid web designer, and I did not have a dedicated server to host clients so I was working on a reseller plan which to me was simply not worth it. I quickly scrapped those ideas and began to toy around with other money making ideas, and eventually stumbled upon search engine optimization. Im not sure how or why, but some how some way I began to teach myself the ins and outs of SEO. At that point I was also registering domains at a rate of 5-10 per day, and on occasion I would sell them for a quick profit, other times I would develop and monetize.

Around the age of 16 I launched Foti Networks to act as an umbrella company which would basically act as the controlling factor for all of my domains and websites. A short while later, I began to contact clients for private seo services and even mixed in a few domain brokerage/acquisition deals in there as well. I have been doing that for the past (almost) 4 years now, and do not see myself stopping any time soon. My long term goal however is to become an angel investor with small tech start ups which is something that I believe I could succeed in.

Steps to Starting an Internet Business
So you want to know the steps to starting an internet business? Well for me their were no “steps” only true trial and error. No one taught me how to fix a computer at age five (when we got our first family computer) and no one sat next to me and taught me SEO, domain valuation, and the countless other skills that I have picked up across the way. My advice to anyone looking to start an internet business would be to try something that your good at, and just go for it. For me, it did not matter, if I owned a company building motorcycles, I just love business, and for me the internet is my gateway.

Starting up an Internet Business will not be easy, in the beginning especially but if your persistent with your efforts and you outwork your competitors you will find yourself in a favorable situation in the long run.
