SEO Keyword Research
When you are making sites online with the intention of having them ranked in the search engines to earn residual income, you need to make sure you are targeting good keywords. This is where good seo keyword research comes into play. With your keyword research you are trying to find keywords that you can rank for (easily if possible), that get a decent amount of searches per month, and if you are using adsense or other similar PPC programs, you are going to want to target keywords with higher PPC’s.
For the sake of this particular post, I am only going to talk about me doing my keyword research for my affiliate sniper sites, which means that I do not care about the PPC for particular keyword, rather I simply want to know how easy it will be for me to rank number one for that keyword, and how many times per month it is searched.
The first thing you will need to do before starting any sort of keyword research, is to open up the adword tool in Google, (go to Google, type in adword tool, click on the first link). Once you have the adword tool open, you can begin searching for keywords. For the sake of my affiliate sniper sites, I am simply finding offers on various affiliate sites, and typing their main keyword into the adword tool. So, if the offer was for acne cream, I would type acne cream into the adword tool. Once I have the word in there, I change the search type to exact, and hide everything except for local search volume. Ill then go ahead and take a look to pick 5-10 of the keywords listed that are searched at least 100 times per month. What you want to do is take these keywords, and type them into the Google search to try and test the waters with the keywords that you have found. Take a look at the sites on the first page; are they all high PR’s? How many backlinks do they have? Is the keyword in their URL, Title, and/or Description? These are all factors that contribute to how competitive a particular keyword is. The absolute best case scenario is you type the keyword into Google, and all pages have 0 PR, and nothing in the title, or URl, obviously this is not going to happen often, and if it does it will be on a keyword with 0 searches but you get my point.
So why am I talking about all this? Well for my 50 affiliate snipers in 60 days challenge, the first thing that I need to do is determine what 50 offers/keywords I am going to promote/target. This can be relatively time consuming, so its important to know what you are doing so you dont have to go back in the future and do it all over again.
For me, once I have the keyword I am targeting, I will try to buy a domain (.com or .net) with that exact keyword. If I cant get the exact keyword, ill try THEkeyword, or if the keyword were acne cream, I might try THEBESTacnecream, again, you get the idea.
Doing seo keyword research can be one of the most time consuming parts of making money online, but when you have a nice list of keywords for yourself, the seo content creation becomes the next order of business.
