Search Engine Optimization Specialist?
For some reason in this new web 2.0 era we have people all over the place referring to themselves as social media experts or gurus, search engine optimization specialists, and everything in between. My question here is what exactly makes you an expert, guru, or a specialist? Lets not even discuss the expert or guru status that is often attached to social media, rather lets focus on the specialist status given to SEOers. Now I am a search engine optimizer myself, but the method I use is not something that I had to go to school for, or develop on my own, its the method that has worked for a long time and will continue to work for the foreseeable future. It involves two things seo content creation and lots and lots of backlinks. What is so hard about that? Other than the countless man hours that you must put into your writing.
Content Creation
If you want to make money online by setting up sniper, niche, or super sites their is a commonality there and that is content. You can not have a successful website that will rank in the search engines if you do not have content. How would that work? SE’s would rank you based on blank pages, I dont think so. So you need to create rich content that is readable by both search engines and people. This means that while you want to be including (but not stuffing) keyword into your articles for the search engines, you also want to make sure that you articles are suitable to be read by real people. Doing this will grow your site, and if you then go back and do proper SEO work, you will find your site ranking high for the keywords that you desire.
Backlink Work
I have not talked about doing back link work here at PeterFoti.com and the reason is rather simple. The internet marketing industry is becoming more competitive than ever, and by giving away specific information I can make it more saturated, and I will not do that. But here is the gist of it. You want to get one way, niche specific, high PR backlinks. So for instance if you own a sports blog your best backlink is from ESPN. If you own a finance blog, your best backlink is from YahooFinance.com or Money.com. Now these are links that your probably not going to be able to get unless you have a huge bankroll, so in the mean time you can use article marketing, blog commenting, blog roll link trades, and the link to build up links to your site. When you send a link to your site you need to make sure that the anchor text is what you are trying to rank for, so if you want to rank your blog for scary red widgets, you need to make sure that you put the term scary red widgets as the name or anchor text, and the link to the page you are trying to rank as the link.
I will be talking more about backlinking in the future, im kind of surprised that I hadnt talked about it up to this point, but i digress.
