Using Organic SEO

Organic SEO (search engine optimization) is the process by which a website publisher puts himself (or herself) in the best possible position to be found by the search engines and ranked for particular keywords. On PeterFoti.com I try to make sure that every post I make is targeting a particular keyword, so that if I do link building I will be found in Google for the keyword I am targeting and receive traffic/money because of it. Many companies (including Foti Networks) offer organic seo services, although unless you simply do not have the time or desire, I would recommend trying to teach yourself.

SEO is broken down into two sections. Off page optimization (Link Building) and On Page Optimization

On Page Optimization
I have discussed this on my blog here plenty of times, but in case you missed it here is the quick breakdown of what on page optimization requires.
1. Keyword in Post Title
2. Keyword in Head Title
3. Keyword as Tag
4. Keyword as Category
5. Keyword as well as Cousin Keywords integrated into blog posts
6. Cousin Keywords as Tags
7. Keyword in Meta Description

This is assuming that you are using word press and targeting keywords with every post, although its pretty much the same thing if you are targeting your whole site to one keyword.

Once you have setup the on page optimization, you are ready to begin the off page optimization.

Off Page Optimization
Natural Organic SEO will require you to obtain backlinks which will then get you ranked in the search engines. If you think of Google as a popularity contest, the site with the most backlinks (votes) will win the top spot, most of the time. However it is important to note that you must use the correct anchor text to make it work. For instance if I were to put a link to PeterFoti.com on another website the clickable text is my anchor text so in this case if I wanted to rank for the term Peter Foti in Google my link would like like this: Peter Foti. If I wanted to try and rank for widgets, my anchor text would be widgets and its variations. You need to make sure that you are constantly switching up your anchor text otherwise you run the risk of getting pinched for Google bombing which is never a good thing. Another thing to avoid is to many links to quickly, which will almost always get you sand boxed.

Getting Links
To me the safest way to get links is from articles. Use the directories available to you, most notably Ezine and Go Articles to submit articles with links back to your websites. Other positive methods include creating hub pages, info barrells, squidoo lenses etc. You can then use these to link to your websites. Another solid way is to request link exchanges with similar websites.

It will be tedious, and until you can afford to outsource it pretty much sucks, but making money online is hard work and should not be taken lightly. I will be posting more organic seo tips in the future, but thats all for now.

Please note that I respond to all comments, emails etc. so if you have a suggestion or a question youd like answered please contact me and I will arrange accordingly.
