Anyone who has at least done some reading into what it takes to make money on the internet understands the fact that link building is crucial to the success of any website. Even if your hoping to make it big as a Gary Vaynerchuk style blogger, back links and seo can still help your site succeed. Id like to break down some (but not all) of what I do for link building seo to make my sites rank in the search engines.
On Page Optimization
Although this is not part of the link building step with seo, on page optimization is an important factor and you will find it very difficult if not impossible to rank without it. On page optimization essentially means that you want to make sure your keywords are spread throughout the page that you are trying to rank for. I make sure to put my keyword in my post title, page title, and URL. These are the three places that the search engines will most often check to see if your site is optimized for their search engines. As a side note, if you are doing keyword research and find that one of your competitors sites does not have the keyword you are targeting in their title, it usually means that the site should be easy to beat. Though make sure your checking PR as well however, considering the fact that if the PR on the particular page is to high it will be very difficult to beat.
Off Page Optimization
The off page optimization of a website is where the link building seo part comes in. Their are many seo link building services out there, however if you can teach yourself, you will be much better off in the long run. The process here is simple, your goal is to get one way anchored back links to your website for the reason of ranking your site higher in the search engine. Think of Google as one big popularity contest, and whichever site receives the most votes (links) will rank the highest, assuming it is optimized for the search engines. SEO and Link Building go hand in hand, and I would say that link building is seo, considering the fact that without links you dont have much of anything.
Where To Get Links
When you are link building for seo it is important to get high quality one way back links. If you are trying to rank your golf site for the term “Callaway Golf Clubs” then your best case scenario is to a link from the callaway golf company to your site with no link back. Googles views the callaway site as an authority and thus it will pass a large amount of link juice back to your site and help you to climb the rankings. Now, its most often not going to be possible to obtain a link from such a site. For this reason many internet marketers utilize article marketing as their main form of link building. Sites such as ezine and go articles allow users to submit 250+ word articles, and in return get a link (or two) back to their website. Sites such as these are high quality authority websites that are beloved by Google and thus will help to get you ranked quickly. Their are many other link building services out there, some of which I use, but for now I will not delve into the topic, I will post that at a later date.
