Buying a Paid ad with Entrecard
I always enjoy new ways of marketing, and jumped on the opportunity to be one of the first advertisers with Entrecard and spread the awareness of my new sports blog. Unfortunately I am using the same Entrecard avatar for both blogs, but I do not think it represents much of a negative effect seeing as how, both are my blogs and the avatar is pretty generic.
In any event, on April 5th, I loaded my Entrecard.com advertiser account with $10 and paid for a $0.30/eCPM ad with Entrecard. Now, around 48 hours later I have received over 30,000 impressions, and 351 clicks through this entire advertising campaign, making for an effect CPC of just $0.01 which is something that you love to see as an advertise, but would hate to see as a publisher.
With these new visitors, my Adsense has slightly increased on the sports blog, however the most worthwhile change came in how the popularity of my blog increased from just 81 to over 400, making it a top blog in the Sports category. While this ad was running I also received 172, 200, and 81 drops on my site respectively, and if you factor in the fact that eventually you will be able to sell credits back to entrecard, the advertising almost pays for itself.
The Whiners on Entrecard
For some reason their is an increasing number of people whining on the Entrecard forums about this new paid advertising scheme. Crying about the fact that they don’t want to make money from their blogs and therefore think it is useless for them to support paid ads. Honestly, if you are not blogging to earn money that is fine, but realize that a large amount of people are, and therefore you whining about paid ads, is not going to fix anything. Also realize that a paid ad only takes up 50% of your daily impressions, meaning that the other 50% is taken up by EC advertisers effectively allowing for both sets of advertisers to co-exist.
Has anyone else made the leap to purchasing advertising through Entrecard? I’m curious to hear your thoughts and results on the topic.

Its good to see that someone else loves this just as much as I do! I personally am a huge fan of this idea, and think that it is going help Entrecard be an awesome site. I wanted to pay for advertising myself, but right now am low on cash, after seeing this though I am more inclined to pay for it anyway as improving traffic would be very kool.
